Increase hot forging die life, eliminate pollution. Use ESPON graphite-free die lubricants

Video shows two different types of hot forging die lubricants being used on the same die on the same 1600 ton hot forging press. 

Video on the left shows oil based graphite forging lubricant being manually applied on the die. Heavy pollution is caused due to fire, smoke emission and dirty graphite deposits on forging machinery and forge shop floors. Die life is reduced due to overheating of die and faster wear. Video on the right shows ESPON graphite-free hot forging die lubricant being sprayed on the die. This eco-friendly die lubricant enables zero pollution as there is no smoke and no dirty graphite deposits. Die temperature is maintained by controlling various parameters during lubricant spray. ESPON anti scale protective coating for hot rolling and hot forging. Open-die forging case study

Scaling and decarburisation is substantially reduced by the use of ESPON anti-scale protective coatings manufactured by M/s. Steel Plant Specialities LLP

Above video shows two stainless steel ingots of 3500 kgs. each. Ingot on the left side was not coated. The ingot on the right side was coated with ESPON anti-scale coating. Both ingots were heated at 1250 deg. celsius for 6 hours in the same open-atmosphere furnace. Objective of coating the ingot with ESPON was to reduce the scale loss by more than 50%. Yield is increased and expensive stainless steel is saved. Result of not coating vs coating is seen in the video. Scaling is reduced by more than 50%. Surface finish is improved. Further operations like surface grinding or peeling to remove excessive scaling and decarburization are reduced.
